The Office of Community Engagement (OCE) offers matching grants to central Indiana not-for-profit organizations and small businesses to hire IUPUI students into meaningful, degree-focused, and career-related professional experiences. Internships are valuable opportunities for students to earn while they apply their knowledge, gain skills, and make connections to future employers. The Office of Community Engagement (OCE) offers grants of up to $1500 per student intern to central Indiana not-for-profit organizations and small businesses.
This fall, grants were awarded to eight organizations. OCE is proud to recognize and congratulate the following organizations and their internship mentors and students:
- Julia Angstmann, Director of the Butler University Center for Urban Ecology & Sustainability, welcomed Noah Hamilton as their Indy Wildlife Watch Research Intern. Noah is a student in the IUPUI School of Science.
- Mary Blake, Executive Director of the Perry Township Education Foundation welcomed Zing Fom as their Marketing Intern. Zing is a student in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering. Informatics.
- Diana Keely, Director of the Still Waters Adult Day Center, welcomed Brooklyn Coultas as their Public Relations Intern. Brooklyn is a student in the Kelley School of Business.
- Beth Kranda, Chief Operation Officer/Chief Financial Officer of Body One Physical Therapy, welcomed LaChelle Knox as their Physical Therapy Aide Intern. LaChelle is a student in the School of Health & Human Sciences.
- Paula Brooks, Environmental Justice Director of the Hoosier Environmental Council, welcomed Lauren Burger as their Climate & Justice Intern. Lauren is a student in the School of Liberal Arts.
- Brent Freeman, President & Executive of Camptown, welcomed Hailey Kerlin as their Program Intern. Hailey is a student in the School of Health & Human Sciences.
- Simona Reising, Learning & Development Director of Reconnecting Our Waterways, welcomed Adam Hollowell as their Communications Coordinator Intern. Adam is a student in the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI.
- Jennifer Capps, Vice President of Curatorship & Exhibition, and Daniel Bennett, Director of Museum Experiences, both of the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, welcomed Aubrey Miles as Curatorial Intern and Julia Wells as Experience Coordinator Intern,. Aubrey is a student in the School of Liberal Arts; and Julia is a student in the School of Health & Human Sciences.
Ready to employ a Spring 2024 IUPUI intern? Interns hired must be current IUPUI students in good standing in their schools, be employed for at least one semester and engaged in meaningful, degree-focused, and career-related professional experiences. Students may work up to 20 hours per week, and employers are expected to provide match funding to receive the grant. There are a limited number of internships grants available for Spring 2024. The application deadline is December 4, 2023.
