More than 75 IUPUI students benefitted from the recent Black and Latino Student-Alumni Career Connections – an event designed to tie IUPUI students to internship, mentoring and job shadowing opportunities. Dozens of alumni and interested professionals representing myriad corporations engaged in career directional conversations and shared ways in which students can effectively connect with opportunities in their respective fields.
The event was hosted by the Indy Chapter Neal Marshall Alumni Club, in cooperation with the Diversity Enrichment and Achievement Program (DEAP) at IUPUI and the Indiana University Alumni Association.
This is the third such event and each round the number of participants increases. Planners say during the 2018-19 school year, the first semester student and alumni gathering will focus solely on networking and job seeking skills. The second semester initiative will be exclusively for connecting students to corporations and small businesses that offer internships that coincide with students’ majors.
