The National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE) released their findings from the 2016 election on student voter registration and voting rates for participating campuses. The data reflects the percentage of an institution’s students who were eligible to vote and who actually voted in the 2012 and 2016 elections. Findings for the IUPUI campus include:
- 57.7% of IUPUI students voted in 2016, an increase of 7.4% over 2012 and 7.3% higher than the national average for all participating institutions
- 82.1% of IUPUI students were registered to vote in 2016, an increase of 5.6% over 2012
- 70.2% of registered students voted, an increase of 4.5% over 2012
- The percent of IUPUI students aged 18-21 who voted increased by 12.6% to 49.3%
The data also breaks down voter rates by education level, undergraduate class year, enrollment status, gender, race/ethnicity, and field of study. A copy of the full report can be found here:
